I have got a ton of recipes and posts that I need to catch up on, I just haven’t had the time to do it yet. But I will. Here is a quick snapshot of couple things lately and workout ideas!
I love milk, yogurt, and all dairy etc, but I have found that, for me, I have a harder time eating those as a pre-workout snack. So to work yesterday I decided to bring some oatmeal mixed with protein powder that I could mix up and eat in the afternoon before I went to workout. It actually came out really well–I call it “Pre-workoats“
- 3/4 cup old-fashioned oats
- 1 scoop protein powder (15-20 grams)
- 1 banana
- Just a little bit of coffee (this was clutch- I don’t like coffee really, but with a chocolate protein powder, it took on a mocha flavor)
- water
Just mix it all up and pop in the microwave:
This meal was a perfect balance of complex carbohydrates, protein, and quick energy from the fruit. I actually ended up having a great workout:
–15 minutes hard on the treadmill to warm up (2.25 miles), then,
–3×7 minute intervals with 2 minute walking recovery
–Followed this with a tough spin class
–Then did 20 minutes on the an elliptical type machine (I like it because it’s harder than the elliptical)
–Abs
Yes, this was all intense and was a longer workout than usual. I did a straight lift the day before so I had some energy saved up for it… although my legs were hurting from the lift! Luckily, when I got home, my foam roller had arrived!
For those of you who haven’t used a foam roller, they are incredible for recovery from working out and getting the leftover lactic acid out of your muscles and decreasing soreness. Here are some other benefits
Benefits of using a foam roller for massage:
- Massage at your convenience
- Target all your sore points; release your trigger points
- Increase range of motion
- Decrease soreness and pains
- Increase training efficiency
- Fix postural problems
- Recover faster

Those oats look awesome! I love adding protein powder to my oats.. I should try mashing up a banana in it! Yum!!
And foam rollers are amazing! I try to use the ones at the gym but I wish I had one at home!
And I think that elliptical machine is called the Arc Trainer.. I like it more than the elliptical too!
